When visiting Nepal as a volunteer for constructing a school, I casually bought a CD which recorded "Resamm Phiriry" at a CD shop. After listening to the song several times I found it to be very relaxing and I memorized the melody completely.
The construction site of the school was in a Himalayan mountain village. After several visits to the construction site in Nepal, I was invited to village people’s house served some locally-brewed sake from them. While we were enjoying with sake, I began to sing some parts of the song, "Resamm Phiriry" that I had memorized by my ear surprised them. People were amazed because a Japanese came from so far away knew the song that they loved.
In the neighborhood of children hear the song that we are singing from the house-opened door, and children wait and see the adults who are merrily drank then started to dance. The children who are told to dance outside by the adult since it is noisy, and are scolded.
The main street of the village with a population of about 600 became a dance party venue for the children illuminated by moonlight. Music that exceeds words, “Music is Communication” is a perfect word.
